Biography
Nico Samitz received his basic musical instruction from 1999 to 2010 at an austrian music school with Robert Hofer. Early ensemble experiences as well as participation in youth competitions shaped his enthusiasm for making music.
From 2012 to 2020, he studied „Instrumental- und Gesangspädagogik“ (trumpet) at the Mozarteum Salzburg with Hans Gansch and Andreas Öttl, where he deepened not only his instrumental training but also his theoretical knowledge. In parallel, he was admitted to the Academy of the Bavarian State Opera in 2015, where he also held a fixed-term position until 2017.
Numerous engagements allowed him to gain diverse experience in the professional orchestral field: in 2018 with the Bavarian Police Orchestra, from 2018 to 2019 with the Munich Philharmonic, and from 2019 to 2020 with the Munich Symphonic Orchestra. From 2020 to 2022, he was a member of the Theater and Orchestra Heidelberg, and since 2023, he has been a member of the Bavarian State Opera.
In addition to his orchestral activity, Nico Samitz has been a member and composer of the Austrian ensemble BlechReiz Brass Quintet since 2010, with which he has developed numerous stage programs and performed at various events/festivals, such as the Rheingau Music Festival, the Brass Festival Limoux, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Schagerl Brass Festival, Woodstock der Blasmusik, etc…
Since 2023, he has been working as a composer and arranger with Symphonic Dimensions Publishing, where he publishes both artistic and art-educational works. He describes the main motivation for his musical work himself as: 'Experiencing and passing on the love of music as part of personal development.'
